SWX - A NEW MOVEMENT

SWX - A NEW MOVEMENT

FROM TWO MOTORCYCLES TO A NEW VISUAL LANGUAGE.

Every Southwave collection starts with a point of view. SWX started with motorcycles.

Not with the intention of creating another motorsport-inspired collection, but with a curiosity to understand what makes these machines so visually powerful. The engineering, the construction, the graphics, the components, the proportions — every detail became part of the research.

We wanted to go beyond looking at the finished machine. So we took two motorcycles apart.

STARTING FROM THE MACHINE

Stripping the motorcycles down allowed us to look at them differently. Without the finished form, what remained was a collection of individual parts, lines, surfaces and mechanical details. We documented them, studied them and began breaking down their visual language.

The process became less about motorcycles and more about design.

How does a shape communicate speed?

How can a technical detail become a graphic?

What happens when something designed for performance is taken completely out of its original environment?

These questions became the foundation of SWX.

TRANSLATING MOVEMENT

Motorsport has its own visual language. Numbers. Technical markings. Racing graphics. Mechanical forms. Functional typography. Contrasting proportions. Instead of directly reproducing these elements, we started translating them.

A component could become a graphic reference.
A mechanical line could become a visual element.
A racing detail could be stripped down and rebuilt.

The objective was simple — take the energy and visual character of motorsport and reinterpret it through the Southwave perspective.

BUILT THE SOUTHWAVE WAY

SWX — Southwave Xtreme — was developed as its own identity within Southwave.

Every graphic, garment and detail was developed around the same idea: create something that feels connected to the world of motorsport without becoming defined by it. We didn’t want SWX to look like motorcycle merchandise. We wanted it to feel like Southwave.

That meant taking references apart, removing what wasn’t necessary and rebuilding them into something new. The result is a collection shaped by machines, but defined by design.

MORE THAN A COLLECTION

SWX represents a direction we want to continue exploring at Southwave.

We believe a collection should have a reason behind it. It should come from somewhere, have something to say and create an identity of its own. For SWX, that journey began with two motorcycles in a workshop.

From there came hours of observation, documentation, experimentation and design. What started as an exploration of machines became an entirely new visual language for Southwave.

SWX — A NEW MOVEMENT, SWX is not about recreating what already exists.

It’s about taking inspiration from the world around us, breaking it down and building something that belongs to us.

Two motorcycles.
Countless details.
One new direction.
